This smoothie recipe won’t spike your blood sugar because it uses low GI fruit and gives you a good dose of protein, fibre and essential fats that will supercharge your energy levels.
1 ½ cup of fresh/frozen berries (strawberries and blueberries work well)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 heaped tablespoon oats
1 heaped tablespoon of shelled hemp seed or milled seed mix
- Combine the berries, almond milk and oats in a blender and blend until smooth
- Add the almond butter and seeds and blend for another 5 to 10 seconds
- Pour into a glass or travel mug and enjoy.
